Woodstock, Vermont
On The River Inn.
A boutique inn in one of New England's best-known small towns. We acquired it, renovated it, and run it.
What We Stand For
Not for three years until a fund needs to sell, but for good. The people who work for you are the business, and any transition that does not take care of them is not one we are interested in.
Most buyers are answering to their investors.
We're answering to you.
We bought our first businesses with the intention of keeping them, and nothing about that has changed. There is no fund clock and no predetermined exit.
Decisions are made by Justin and Stephen directly, and you will have our cell numbers from the first conversation forward.
Your team is the reason the business works. We keep them, invest in them, and build the company around them.
Your company gets our full attention, because this is the only kind of work we do.
We will work with you on terms that fit your situation, whether that means a full exit, a partial one, or keeping a stake. The structure is your call.
We will structure the transition around your timeline, whether you want to stay involved for a period or hand things off cleanly and move on.
What to Expect
Here is how it works with us.
It starts with a phone call. We will ask about your business, you will ask about us, and we will figure out together whether there is a reason to keep talking. Everything is confidential, and there is no commitment and no timeline other than yours.
If we both want to go further, we sign an NDA and take a closer look at operations, the team, the customers, and the financials. Then we put together an offer and walk you through, in plain English, what a deal would actually look like for you.
We finalize the agreement, close, and work alongside you to make sure the transition goes well for your team, your customers, and you. From there, on a timeline that works for you, you decide how involved you want to stay.

Our Team
Our first businesses were in Vermont, and we have been operating across the Northeast ever since. Our families spend time up here, and we know the communities and the people who keep them running.
We started Long Trail Partners because the businesses in this part of the country deserve a better option when it is time for a founder to move on.
Justin grew up in Southern California and came east for college, where he stayed. His family now spends much of the year at their place near Mt. Snow, Vermont. His whole career has been in operations: managing teams, running businesses, and doing the kind of work where you are the one people call when something breaks. Most recently he ran operations across a national platform, with more than forty general managers reporting up to him. Justin and Stephen have been close friends since they met in college in 2013.
Stephen grew up outside Boston and has known the Northeast his whole life. He has spent his career working alongside business owners and management teams, not from a boardroom but in the weeds of how things actually work. He has overseen operations across 20 locations and managed $250 million of capital projects, and learned what he knows by staying close to the businesses themselves. Stephen and Justin have known each other since 2013. The partnership behind Long Trail Partners predates the firm by more than a decade.
